Overview
The short Inca Trail 2 days 1 night to Machu Picchu is an alternative option of the normal Inca Trail 4 days, so it is not very tired and it is faster! It combines beautiful mountain landscapes and incredible panoramic views.
- DÃa 1: Cusco – Km. 104 – Aguas Calientes.
- DÃa 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco
Itinerary
DÃa 1: Cusco – Km. 104 – Wiñayhuayna – Aguas Calientes.
- 05:00 hrs. Pick up of our passengers to go in our tourist transport to the town of Ollantaytambo with a travel time of approximately 2 hours, where we will board our train that will take us to Km. 104.At Km. 104 we will begin our hike, after checking in at the control we will visit the archaeological site of Chachabamba (2100 masl), then we will continue our journey for 4 hours to reach Wiñayhuayna (2600 masl).In Wiñayhayna we will have a break to enjoy our lunch (box lunch), then we will continue for 2 hours to reach Inti Punku or Puerta del Sol, where we will have the first views of the mountain of Waynapicchu and the Inca city, we will continue about 40 minutes more and we will arrive to Machupicchu where we will take the traditional photo.
Then we will board the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes to go to our hotel and dinner respectively.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco.
- Waking up early (04:00am) we’ll take one of the first buses back up to Machu Picchu to enter the site as soon as it opens (06:00am) We’ll have a 2 hour guided tour of the site during which you’ll learn about the Incas and visit all the most important areas of the citadel. After your tour you’ll have free time to explore the site by yourself and if you have permits to climb either Huayna Picchu (2 hours round trip) or Machu Picchu mountain (3 hours round trip). In the afternoon you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo (2 hours) from where you will carry on by bus back to Cusco (2 more hours).
