Discover the rich history of Ayacucho on the Vilcashuamán tour, a full-day cultural excursion following the route toward one of the most important Inca administrative centers in the region. The journey reaches a maximum altitude of 4300 m / 14,108 ft and combines high-Andean landscapes with important natural and archaeological attractions.During this experience, you will visit the Manallasaq Puyas Raimondi Forest, Pumacocha Lagoon, and the Intihuatana Archaeological Complex, where important structures such as the tower and Inca Baths can be seen. You will then explore the Vilcashuamán Inca Citadel, featuring the Main Plaza, the Temple of the Sun and Moon, the Sun Gate, and the monumental Ushno. The tour lasts approximately 11 hours and 30 minutes and has an easy difficulty level.

Itinerary

Día01

VILCASHUAMÁN

08:00 hrs. We will begin our journey from Ayacucho toward Vilcashuamán, crossing the high-Andean landscapes of the Ayacucho puna and reaching approximately 4300 m / 14,108 ft. Along the way, we will visit the Manallasaq Puyas Raimondi Forest, also known as titanka, an emblematic Andean plant that flowers only once during its biological cycle.

We will continue to Pumacocha Lagoon, located beside the Intihuatana Archaeological Complex. Here, we will explore important Inca structures such as the tower and the Inca Baths. We will then arrive at the Vilcashuamán Inca Citadel, where we will visit the Main Plaza, the Temple of the Sun and Moon, the Inca Palace, the Sun Gate, and the monumental Ushno.

16:00 hrs. We will begin our return journey to Ayacucho. 19:30 hrs. The tour will end at the starting point, located one block from Ayacucho’s Main Square.
