The Machupicchu by Car Combined 2 Days 1 Night tour is an alternative way to reach Machu Picchu, combining a scenic road journey with a hike from Hydroelectric Station. The trip begins in Cusco and passes through the Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo, Abra Málaga, and the high jungle before continuing through Santa María, Santa Teresa, and Hydroelectric Station.

From Hydroelectric Station, you will enjoy an approximately 3-hour hike to Aguas Calientes, following a mostly flat route alongside the railway and the Urubamba River. The following day, you will visit Machu Picchu with an approximately 2-hour guided tour, before returning by train to Ollantaytambo and continuing by road to Cusco. The route has a moderate difficulty level and reaches a maximum altitude of 4400 m / 14,436 ft at Abra Málaga.

Itinerary

Día01

CUSCO – HYDROELECTRIC STATION – AGUAS CALIENTES

07:00 hrs. We will pick you up in our private vehicle and then travel through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo. After a brief stop in this town, we will continue our journey uphill to the Málaga Pass at 4,400 meters above sea level, where we will make a short stop to admire the snow-capped peaks of Veronica and Salkantay. From here, we will begin the descent through the high jungle to Santa María and then continue along the Urubamba River Valley until we reach Santa Teresa.

In Santa Teresa, we will stop for lunch and to stock up on water. We will then continue by car to Hidroelectrica, where we will begin our 3-hour average hike along a flat trail to Aguas Calientes (the Machu Picchu town).

18:30 hrs. Arrival in Machu Picchu town and overnight stay at a hostel.

Día02

AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Early in the morning, we will visit the 7th Wonder of the World, Machu Picchu. The guided tour will cover the most important areas, including the urban sector, religious sector, agricultural sector, and other significant sites. This guided tour will last approximately 2 hours, accompanied by a specialist guide who will explain the historical legacy of the Machu Picchu citadel and provide a detailed description of the most important sectors of this magnificent and impressive site.

Later, we will descend to the Aguas Calientes town, where you can have lunch (not included) at your leisure and arrive at the train station on time, according to your ticket schedule. In the afternoon, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a bus transfer to the city of Cusco.

21:30 hrs. Arrival in the city of Cusco.

NOTE: Pickup and return times may vary depending on train ticket availability if you make your reservation only a few days before your trip.
